Reflection for the First Sunday of Lent
Brian McKee, a member of the Tobar Mhuire team, shares his reflections for the First Sunday in Lent.
"At once the Spirit drove him out into the desert, and he remained in the desert for forty days, tempted by Satan. He was among wild beasts, and the angels ministered to him.
After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God: “This is the time of fulfilment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe the good news."
We all have to make choices in life that will have profound implications for the rest of lives. So too Jesus faces a moment of choice in the desert that will have consequences for the rest of his life journey – and his choice to follow the invitation of his Father becomes for us a source of hope.
